The body of the actress, famous for her roles in movies Insatiable and Behind the Green Door and the Electric Blue series of erotic films, was discovered on Sunday by her daughter.
Besides her porn career, Chambers, real name Marilyn Ann Taylor, starred in David Cronenberg's 1977 horror film Rabid and her image was immortalised on boxes of Ivory Snow detergent - a modelling job she gave up to become a porn star.
An autopsy is due to be carried out to establish a cause of death, but foul play was not suspected.
She died on 12. April 2009 in Santa Clarita, California.
